Butternut Veneers Inc., located in Butternut, Wisconsin, originated in the early 1900's as a rotary hardwood veneer mill under the name of Northern Hardwood Veneers, Inc. The Besse family acquired it in 1986. This acquisition not only created the second company in the group, but also brought John Besse back to the town of his birth, where his father once owned and operated a sawmill.
This 50,000 square foot

square feet (7,150,000 meters) annually of rotary and sliced faces for stock and wall panels, door faces and cut-to-size faces.
Butternut, Wisconsin is located only 200 miles from the plant in Gladstone, Michigan and 100 miles from the plant in Mattoon, Wisconsin, which makes it convenient for combined shipments of products to our customers.
